A couple of weeks ago we were invited to participate in the Engaged! In Washington showcase hosted by Engaged Magazine. I was thrilled to receive the invitation and immediately called my right-hand gal, Veronica to go over our game plan. After a few conversations, ideas swapped via Pinterest and feedback from the hubby and friends, our designs were finalized. After many color palettes and variations, we decided on a bold pink and gray palette with gold and silver embellishments.
After ordering the necessary supplies, family, friends and the GLWE team came over on a Sunday after church for our prep party. As everyone loves options, we decided that we would give the attendees the option to select their favor. Guests chose between a tin filled with an assortment of teas, a vanilla scented candle that I designed (complete with navy blue wax) and an all natural olive oil and sea salt scrub.
With our favors completed, equipment ordered and new GLWE lookbooks designed and printed, we were well on our way!
With only a few days left before show time, we were still in need of the perfect menu cards for our table design. I reached out to Rachel Merkel of Miss Merkel Design – excited to introduce you to her soon) who graciously agreed to provide menu cards.
The day before the show, Veronica and I ran errands and put the finishing touches on our designs. Sunday morning we were up bright and early, anxious to meet the amazing group of attendees at the show. After we enjoyed a delicious brunch near my home, we headed to the Decatur House to unload and setup.
After a few hours of setting up, readjusting, prepping and meeting new and familiar vendor friends, we were all set and ready!
The next few hours were filled with excitement. We spent the afternoon meeting couples enthusiastic about their upcoming weddings.
After a few hours of engaging, learning and networking, the event came to an end. Planning for the Engaged! In Washington event reminded me of the process of planning for a wedding. You spend a great deal of time planning, brainstorming and problem solving, all for a few hours of execution. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this year’s showcase. My team and I look forward to working with some of the awesome couples and vendors that we had the pleasure of meeting over the past few weeks!
