Tell us about your Well Dunn Catering:

Well Dunn has been catering Weddings, Galas and Private and Corporate Events in the nation’s capital for more than 30 years. Long before the recent fad, we purposefully sourced the best available local, sustainable foods and ingredients. We are a full service caterer. We produce customized proposals for each event, so our proposals are truly unique and tailored to reflect the needs of each event.  In this fashion we are able to address the budget, menu requirements and the nature of the facility where we are catering.

What makes Well Dunn Catering the best of the best?

A true boutique caterer, we provide clients with personal attention, stylish design, and menus with a smart mix of trendy and classic. We have a fresh outlook on each event and we are inspired by what is seasonal. We are constantly changing our menus to reflect what is popular and we work together to create a new and stand-out proposal for each client.

How do you exceed your clients’ expectations?

We pride ourselves in being prompt to respond to emails and inquiries, and we give special attention to event details. Based on our 30 year history, we have a vast knowledge of venues in the Virginia, Maryland and District of Columbia with great working relationships with the site coordinators to execute a smooth and fun event.

What excites you most about the work that you do?

Well Dunn loves that each day brings a new adventure and that we are never sitting for long. We all like to keep busy and seek out new design elements and menu ideas for our events.  We love our clients that we have had long-term catering relationships with and we love the many moving parts that must take place in order to shine during an event!

Awards or accolades you are most proud of?

Well Dunn Catering is proud to have been selected again this year in Washingtonian Magazine as among the finest caterers in the Metropolitan area.  Our client list reflects over thirty years of working with terrific clients who have accorded us this honor. We have been featured in the Washingtonian Bride and Groom Magazine many times within the past year for work we have done on beautiful weddings with other fabulous vendors in the area. We are also very proud of the positive reviews that we have received from both corporate and wedding clients on Yelp! and Wedding Wire. Nothing is better than seeing our clients so happy after events and give feedback on our food, service and overall presentation.

What has been a highlight or milestone in your (or your companies’) career?

Our biggest milestone would have to be that we are growing! In the past year, we have created three new full-time positions within our office and 2011 was our biggest revenue year to date. Even better news is that 2012 is gearing up to be bigger than 2011 and we know that we have the means to make it happen. We are so grateful to all of our long-term clients who entrust us with their events and that we are able to maintain clients while gaining new ones because of our success.

What should couples look for in their caterer?

Couples should look for a caterer that is going to be prompt in their responses. You not only want to look at proposals that are well put together, but also a great overall value. Most importantly, you need to be able to form a relationship with the Event Designer working with you, as they will be your lifeline throughout the process. As a caterer, we take on many roles on the day of an event- we help coordinate deliveries, assist in minimal décor set-up and are there for emotional support. Having a good relationship with your caterer from start to finish is imperative. Lastly, your caterer should be flexible with your schedule and should pay attention to every little detail to ensure that you do not miss a thing on your big day!

What is your most popular menu item or package?

It is so hard just to pick just one! A few of our most popular hors d’ouevres would have to be: Lobster Cakes with Papaya Mayonnaise, Duck on Pear Chip with Pear Conserve, Beef and Artichoke Crostini and Wild Mushroom Tarts topped with Bourin Cheese. Each of our menu items are completely customizable and we can even create something that is your favorite but is not currently on our menus.

Advice for couples planning their big day? Or advice for couples researching a caterer for their big day?

The best advice that we could give would be to take your time planning your wedding and really enjoy the process. Don’t overwhelm yourself with plans and ask for help where needed. Realize that this is a celebration of your love and that your marriage is more important than your wedding!

Anything else you would like to add?

We wish you the very best of luck in planning and please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions regarding the planning process. We would be happy to put together a customized proposal for you and make any recommendations on other vendors that we work with and have grown to love.

Cheers to an event that is Well Dunn!
