Vendor Spotlight {Petal's Edge Floral Design}

We get excited when we hear that one of our brides has booked Petal’s Edge Floral Design for their big day! For the past six years we have had the pleasure of working with their team on numerous events specifically in the Old Towne, Alexandria area. We love the creativity and attention to detail that goes into each piece that is created. Looking for a florist for your big day or special occasion? Be sure to visit with Gerry and Rebecca of Petal’s Edge and let them know that we sent you!

Tell us about your company: We’re a woman owned business, 8 years in business, doing floral design for events and weddings in the DC Metro area.

What makes Petal’s Edge Floral Design the best of the best? We are very professional.  We treat all of our clients with the utmost level of professionalism, and we put every effort to get every detail perfect, and exactly as it’s spelled out in our contract with them.

How do you exceed your clients’ expectations? We work really hard to read their minds, in all seriousness. It’s hard to understand what people want for their flowers, as the average person doesn’t have a design vocabulary (and we don’t expect them to).  We strive to interpret what they are saying their tastes are into not just beautiful flower arrangements, but something that is also really good design.

What excites you most about the work that you do?  We love when everything comes together perfectly into a cohesive look for the entire event.  And there is nothing better than hearing a bride squeal about how thrilled she is with her bouquet!

Awards or accolades you are most proud of?  What has been a highlight or milestone in your career?   We’re just really proud of the fact that we’ve been in business this long, and have been so successful at it.  But it was particularly satisfying to get on the Washingtonian list after only one year of business, though, and we’ve stayed on it ever since.  We worked really hard that year.

What should couples look for in their wedding florist? Advice for couples planning their big day?  They should look for someone who makes them feel confident in their ability to interpret their tastes and desires, and for a florist whose overall body of work  appeals to them.  Wedding flowers are custom, so they need to have confidence in what the final product will be, sight unseen.  For us, we feel that a clear and professional contract really helps communicate that.

What venue(s) do you enjoy working at the most? So many – Woodend, Meridian House, Torpedo Factory, Hotel Monaco (DC and Alexandria), Park Hyatt, just to name a few.

Do you have a favorite flower that you enjoy working with?  Stock.  Such a boring name for such a fantastic flower.  Comes in a ton of colors, holds up well, fits for so many different types of arrangements.
