One of my favorite DC museums in the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) When I received an inquiry from Lauren regarding her summer wedding at NMWA, I jumped at the opportunity! My team and I always love working with the amazing staff at NMWA as they always make us feel welcome.
Lauren and Jed hosted out of town guests for their wedding weekend. As a result, the couple planned a fun-filled weekend spoiling their guests. After the wedding rehearsal, the bridal party enjoyed dinner at Darlington House. Our bride and groom welcomed their out-of-towners with post dinner cocktails and great conversation.
L+J’s wedding day kicked off with a scenic run around the monuments. A handful of guests joined the groom for an early morning run. My team along with the always outstanding Michelle and the Main Event Caterers crew began an afternoon install at the museum. After a First Look photo-op in front of the White House, L+J headed over to the museum for the signing of their Ketubah.
Our couple ditched the traditional ceremony setup and chose a unique ceremony set in-the-round. Their Jewish ceremony took place under a perfectly designed and assembled chuppah by Edge Floral Designers.
L+J asked their parents to perform their ceremony readings. Once the guests yelled “mazel tov” and the glass was broken, they were escorted to the mezzanine for cocktail hour.
During cocktail hour, the GLWE team and Main Event staff moved lighting fast to flip the Great Hall for dinner. In no time flat, the Great Hall was transformed for dinner and dancing!
Black Tie Band provided the perfect soundtrack for cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. The dance floor was packed the entire night! The band introduced L+J for the first time as husband and wife to, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” by Steve Wonder.
No Jewish wedding would be complete without the traditional Hora dance!
In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, our bride and groom opted for a small cake. They worked with Michelle on selecting desserts for a grand dessert buffet.
The party didn’t stop at the museum. L+J kept the party going and hosted their guests for an afterparty not far from their venue. We can’t thank Lauren and Jed enough for allowing us to be a part of their big day!
