What I’ve Been Up To: His Plan is ALWAYS PERFECT

gods planBHappy New Year! It’s been too long since I have blogged. But for good reason, I promise! In between some amazing events and projects last year, my husband and I announced that we were expecting our second child in 2015 (or so I thought).

If I am being honest, I will tell you that my second pregnancy was NOTHING like my first almost five years ago. For some reason I felt that God was using my son to remind me to focus on what matters. To slow down and be more intentional in the work that I do. To be more present with my family and friends.

The day before Jackson was born, my best friends and I enjoyed our annual year-end gathering. My friend Lynette joked that Jackson should make his entry into the world while she was home visiting from California. Apparently he heard her request. He was born less than 24 hours later!

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind, to say the least! My family and I were blessed with a healthy little prince on December 22nd, 2014. Jackson Philip or “Baby Jack Jack” as my daughter calls him made his debut into the world 3.5 weeks before his January due date. Being a planner, I was in disbelief and shocked when my water broke. Although we made significant progress getting our house, finances and businesses in order, my husband and I had a list of final prep details to handle before Jackson arrived.

I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason. When I said to a friend that “Jackson came early,” my friend replied, “There is no such thing. He is right on time!” Our God makes no mistakes. His timing is always perfect. His plans are always better than ours. All words and phrases that I keep reminding myself daily. Although I had planned both my pregnancies, I was not intending to deliver a preemie. Nor was I prepared to spend five of seven of Jackson’s first days of life in the NICU. Our little guy weighed in at 4 pounds, 15 ounces.

At Jackson’s two day routine checkup, the pediatrician noticed that his body temperature was ranging between 95 and 96 degrees, well below the 98 degrees that is normal for newborns. His weight also dropped to 4 pounds, 10 ounces, and he wasn’t eating the amounts that he should have been. We were immediately admitted to the hospital where my husband and I spent three nights by his side as the nurses and doctors monitored our little guy. I am grateful for my family and friends for staying by our side and being the best support system a girl could ask for. Now that Jackson is thriving and doing well, I am excited to get back into the swing of things as I figure out what my new “normal” will be. Between diaper changes and feedings, I am keeping busy with client and team meetings. We are gearing up for one heck of a year and I can’t wait to see what blessings God has in store for my family and business! Cheers to a prosperous, healthy and purpose filled New Year!
