Bridal Gown Love {Jesus Peiró}

February 5

A few days ago I was thumbing through the latest issue of Weddings Unveiled magazine when I stumbled across a Jesus Peiró ad. The modern, sleek and trendy bridal gown (image above) instantly caught my eye. After searching Jesus Peiró’s latest collection, I have selected a few of my favorites.

I am a new fan of lace and like how this dress has multiple layers and a v-neck cut in the front as well as the back.

I’m normally not a fan of sleeves, however paired with buttons and a unique belt, the lace detail on the sleeves of this gown is lovely.

I love how Peiró meshed a lace bodice, caplet sleeves and pockets on this A-line gown.

I really like the unique bodice of this gown and how it extends beyond the waist line. The mesh and lace detail throughout also makes this dress unique.

This gorgeous ball gown and cape is perfect for a regal winter wedding. I love the luscious layers and the off white hue of this gown.

The collar of this dress is one of a kind and eliminates the need for a necklace. This gown would be perfect for a taller bride.

How about this one shoulder empire waist gown? The gold belt adds a nice subtle pop of color and character.

My Custom Illustration via Ashley Brook Designs

October 29

A few years ago I discovered the amazing Ashley Brooke of Ashley Brooke Designs. A few months back while doing research for a client, I was reintroduced to Ashley Brooke Designs and instantly fell in love with her Custom Illustration Collection. As a result, I contacted Ashley and we began working on a custom design for yours truly. I wanted a sketch that showcased “Geomyra.” I asked Ashley to incorporate my daughter Payton into the design as she is a big part of my work day. Every chance that she gets, she makes a point to sit in “mommy’s chair” and mimic my actions.To begin the design process, Ashley’s team sent over a brief questionnaire for me to complete.  I sent over a few images of my everyday essentials and Ashley got to work on my design.My outfit: I love a crisp button down collared shirt. My favorite is made by Ralph Lauren. Of course I had to incorporate my J.Crew No. 2 Pencil skirt. To complete my ensemble, we incorporated Christian Louboutins. As I am attached to my iPad and never leave home without it, it only made sense to include my iPad in the sketch. I am an avid reader, researcher, baker and Christian. We added a stack of my favorite books to the design: 1. The Holy Bible. 2. The Complete Magnolia Baker Cookbook  3. Mindy Weiss’ The Wedding Book. My Redskins coffee mug fits quite nicely next to the bouquet of pink hydrangeas (my favorite flower). My all white desk and chair mimic the furniture in my home office. Ashley included my David Yurman pieces, Michele watch and my wedding band and engagement ring.

I am super delighted with my custom illustration and the awesome customer service from Ashley and her team.  Be sure to head over to Ashley’s website to check out her latest designs and download the free monthly wallpaper for your smartphone!

From the Red Carpet to the Aisle {2012 Emmy Awards}

September 24

Last night the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards premiered, and boy was it fun to watch! Of course my favorite part of the evening was the red carpet arrivals. There were lots of gorgeous gowns, as well as a few not so pleasing sights. The fashionista and wedding planner that I am couldn’t help but notice the gowns that would be suitable for the aisle. Here are a few of my favorite picks that would transfer very well to the ceremony.

Sarah Hyland worked with Marchesa’s Georgina Champman and co-designed her dove grey gown.  Zooey Deschanel wore a custom-made Reem Acra. “Reem Acra” is a popular name on the bridal fashion scene.  Kate Mara looked stunning in a metallic gold and blush Badgley Mischka Couture gown. Badgley Mischka is no stranger to the bridal world.

One of my favorite gowns was the strapless, fishtail Monique Lhuillier dress worn by the gorgeous Padma Lakshmi. Jane Levy opted for a royal blue Pamella Roland dress. Royal and cobalt blues are super-hot colors right now. Julie Bowen was a true standout in her lime green Monique Lhuillier trumpet gown.

Fashion Police’s Kelly Osbourne wore a uniquely colored lilac Zac Posen taffeta gown.  Jessica Pare showed off her shape in a custom designed Jason Wu number. Tina Fey’s slender framed looked amazing in the burgundy, corseted Vivienne Westwood gown that she selected.

Handbags for the Holidays

December 7

One thing that every gal needs is a nice handbag. When I was younger I used to have a collection of purses that took over my bedroom. As I got older I learned the importance of quality over quantity. For that reason I am very particular when selecting a new bag. Here are a few bags that would make a great addition to anyone’s handbag collection this holiday season: I am so in love with Burberry and their ionic Nova check design. I am a fan of the newer small smoked check hobo bag as the colors are bold and unique. I am loving the various styles of the MICHAEL Michael Kors Hamilton bags. I am particularly fond of the vanilla color and silver hardware. The Tory Burch Met Robinson Bag is the perfect accessory for any holiday party. It’s big enough to hold your cell phone, id and other essentials. There are numerous colors that will go with any outfit.

I stumbled across the French Red Tory Burch Robinson Satchel while browsing the Tory Burch website. The unique color will be sure to add just the right pop of color during the holiday season.

Fall Fashion Finds: Boots

September 30

Hands down, fall is my favorite season. I love boots, sweaters, wool coats and the scents that go with the changing leaves. As we quickly move into cool and crisp weather, I believe it’s time we get our fall wardrobe together. Here are a few of my favorite fall finds:

Cole Haan Air Talia Booties: I own a pair of these booties in black. I am obsessed with Cole Haan shoes. They are super comfy and the leather is delicious!

Tory Burch “Selma” Flat Boots:  I love, love, love Tory Burch and the simplicity and classic items she produces.

The Classic Ugg Boots a.k.a Ole’ Faithful: Super comfy and warm. I wear these all year around.

Stuart Weitzman Highline Boots: Need I say more? These are to die for!

Burberry Check Rain Boots: In light of the rainy season we are experiencing here in DC, I bring you the Burberry rain boot.

What hot items will you be rockin’ this season?
